Stephen Evans

 

Stephen Evans produces functional and decorative pottery from both porcelain and iron stoneware lay which he fires in an electric kiln All pieces are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.

Stephen is best known for his delicate and simple slip  decoration on his thrown porcelain pieces. The floral brushwork motif complements rounded forms and many people find it appealing.

Stephen’s ‘Mountain Landscape’ pottery echoes the beautiful backdrop that is so much a part of High River’s scenery. This, and Stephen’s ‘Galaxy’ line which features a black glaze speckled with a golden-brown overglaze, is sought after by discerning collectors province-wide.

Artist’s Bio: Stephen has been a regular vendor at the Millarville Farmer’s Market for the past 15 years. He studied Pottery and Ceramics History under notable instructors at the Alberta College of Art and Design, Mount Royal College, Ceramics Canada and at Red Deer College. Stephen is a member of the Alberta Potter’s Association and has taught pottery courses in the High River area for many years. His work can be found in galleries throughout Alberta including The Alberta Craft Council Gallery in Edmonton, Bluerock Gallery in Black Diamond and Galleria in Calgary.
